Human Rights as the Foundation of CCID’s Work
CCID grounds all its programs in the belief that everyone is entitled to their full range of human rights. This human rights approach guides how the organization designs and implements projects, ensuring that the communities they serve are protected and empowered across multiple areas of life. Their work emphasizes the importance of recognizing and upholding rights for all individuals.
Applying International Standards to Local Needs
Whether addressing gender equality, economic development, health rights, political rights, or youth rights, CCID draws on international human rights instruments, legal protections, and community needs in Cameroon. By using these frameworks, they effectively communicate why securing rights matters, while ensuring their interventions are both principled and responsive to local realities.
Education and Awareness as Tools for Change
A central part of CCID’s mission is raising public awareness through educational initiatives. These programs focus on key human rights issues, including gender-based violence, poverty, community development, and reproductive health rights. By promoting understanding across these topics, CCID helps communities recognize, claim, and defend their rights.
Empowering Youth as Key Human Rights Advocates
Recognizing the potential of young people, CCID created the Cameroon Human Rights Fellowship to train youth activists in sustained, informed advocacy. The program is built on the idea that protecting and promoting human rights requires coordinated, long-term efforts across sectors. With a strong emphasis on youth leadership, it mobilizes diverse stakeholders to advance human rights throughout the country.
